AporDoc
The Portuguese Documentary Association is a non-profit cultural organization that was created in order to promote and develop the production and distribution of documentary films: - Promoting the visibility of documentaries as a cinematographic genre; - Stimulating the creation and production of new films; - Promoting Portuguese documentaries nationally and internationally. Center For Social Media
The Center for Social Media showcases and analyzes media for public knowledge and action—media made by, for, and with publics to address the problems that they share. We pay particular attention to the evolution of documentary film and video in a digital era. With research, public events, and convenings, we explore the fast-changing environment for public media. The Center was founded in 2000 by Patricia Aufderheide, University Professor in the School of Communication. As part of the School, the Center offers research assistantships, screenings, master classes and volunteer opportunities to SOC students. The Center also has fellows associated with funded projects, but has no stand-alone funding for fellows.

DER
Documentary Educational Resources is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1968 and incorporated in 1971 for the purpose of producing and distributing cross-cultural documentary film for educational use. Documentary Film Centre
The purpose of the Documentary Film Centre is promote, collect and research German and international film and television documentaries. The Centre’s collection ranges from artistic and social activist documentaries; industrial, nature, educational and cultural films, to journalistic films. The Documentary Film Centre regularly organises conferences on current and historical developments of documentary film and offers workshops and symposia on subjects relating to film and television production. EDN - European Documentary Network
A member-based organisation for professionals working with documentary film and television. EDN supports, stimulates and creates networks within the documentary sector in Europe. EDN provides documentary consulting and informs about possibilities for funding, financing, development, co-production, distribution and collaboration across borders. This is done via individual consultancy to members on documentary projects, activities like workshops, seminars and conferences as well as through the two indispensable publications DOX magazine and The EDN TV-Guide. EDN started in September 1996 as a documentary organisation for filmmakers, producers, production companies, distributors, associations, film institutions & boards, universities, festivals, broadcasters and film & television agencies. Internatonal Documentary Association

Center releases "Bound By Law," a comic book exploring the impacts of intellectual property on creativity - specifically, documentary film. A documentary is being filmed. A cell phone rings, playing the “Rocky” theme song. The filmmaker is told she must pay $10,000 to clear the rights to the song. Can this be true? “Eyes on the Prize,” the great civil rights documentary, was pulled from circulation because the filmmakers’ rights to music and footage had expired. What’s going on here? It’s the collision of documentary filmmaking and intellectual property law, and it’s the inspiration for this new comic book. Follow its heroine Akiko as she films her documentary, and navigates the twists and turns of intellectual property. Why do we have copyrights? What’s “fair use”? Bound By Law reaches beyond documentary film to provide a commentary on the most pressing issues facing law, art, property and an increasingly digital world of remixed culture.
