he Ann Arbor Film Festival is the longest-running independent and experimental film festival in North America, established in 1963. Sheffield Doc/Fest

Sheffield Doc/Fest presents an international programme of over 90 documentaries from the
1200 submissions it receives.
The industry conference at the festival attracts British documentary makers
and executives in British television. The delegate mix of around 900 includes documentary and
factual producers, directors, buyers, commissioners and distributors.
Sheffield Doc/Fest offers a marketplace for producers to secure the deals for the year
through the meetings held with the many broadcasters from the UK and the world attending
the festival.

Started in 1995 by a group of writer/director/ producers, Slamdance continues to be organized and programmed by active filmmakers. Now in its tenth year as a festival that runs simultaneous to the Sundance Film Festival, Slamdance has established a unique reputation for premiering independent films by first-time directors working with limited budgets.
As a year-round organization, Slamdance serves as a showcase for the discovery of new and emerging talent and is dedicated to the nurturing and development of new independent artists and their cinematic vision. For the 2010 Festival, Slamdance received a record number of over 5,000 submissions. Slamdance lives by its mantra: "By Filmmakers, For Filmmakers." No other festival is fully programmed by filmmakers. Slamdance counts among its alumni many notable writers and directors who first gained notice at the festival, including Christopher Nolan, Marc Forster and Jared Hess. Oren Peli’s PARANORMAL ACTIVITY originally acquired from Slamdance went onto to gross over $100 million at the Box Office. New filmmakers and writers today realize Slamdance is a great place to launch their careers.
