CPH:DOX
CPH:DOX, Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival, is the largest documentary film festival in Scandinavia. Each year the festival presents a selection of more than 150 documentary films from around the world. Guth Gaffa documentary FF
A documentary-only film festival in Ireland.
The first Guth Gafa festival held in May 2006 operated under the umbrella of local film production company, Soilsiú Films Ltd. and became a separate company in 2007.
The aims and objectives of the festival are to bring to the Donegal Gaeltacht, documentary films made to the highest international standards, including in the Irish language; to promote the use of Irish in the documentary film industry by developing a festival that operates through Irish and that is Gaeltacht based; to attract internationally renowned film directors to Ireland and to introduce them to a national and local audience; to contribute to the local economy by bringing in a significant number of international visitors and by attracting a large local and national audience to festival events; to stimulate the development of best international practice in documentary film making by providing a forum for screening, discussions and masterclasses; to specifically target selected audiences ranging from local community groups, schools, third level colleges, producers, directors, broadcasters and distributors, and to bring them together in the intimate setting of the Donegal Gaeltacht.

Hot Docs

Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival is North America's largest documentary festival. Each year, the festival presents more than 100 documentaries from Canada and around the globe. Through its industry programmes, the Festival also provides a full range of professional development, market and networking opportunities for documentary professionals.
Hot Docs was founded in 1993 by the Documentary Organisation of Canada (formerly the Canadian
Independent Film Caucus), a national association of independent documentary filmmakers. In 1996, Hot Docs became a separately incorporated organization with a mandate to showcase and support the work of Canadian and international documentary filmmakers and to promote excellence in documentary production.
During the Festival, Hot Docs also presents the Toronto Documentary Forum (TDF).
Launched in 2000, this event is focused around 30 pre-selected
project-presentations and established itself as North America's essential
international market event for buyers and sellers working in the social, cultural and
political documentary genres. More than 130 broadcasters and distributors from Europe, Australia,
the USA, Canada and elsewhere are attending the TDF.
In addition to the Festival and the TDF, Doc Soup, a monthly screening and discussion series provides audiences an opportunity to view and discuss contemporary documentaries throughout the fall and winter.

IDFA

Established in 1988, it has become the world's largest documentary film festival, screening more than 250 film each year. Aside from the festival, IDFA consists of three other components: the Jan Vrijman Fund, the FORUM and Docs for Sale. All of these were established in order to improve the international climate for creative documentaries. The Jan Vrijman Fund offers support to documentary projects and festivals in developing countries, the FORUM is Europe's biggest co-financing market for international documentary productions, and Docs for Sale is an international documentary market.

Krakow Film Festival
Krakow Film Festival is the oldest film festival in Poland, organized every year since 1961 as the national short film competition, later also an international one and finally only international, made a comeback as a double-barreled event once again in 1997.
Films are accepted in three categories:
- National (Polish) competition - for short fictions and animations up to 30 minutes and documentaries up to 60 minutes.
- International Competition - for short fictions and animations up to 30 minutes and documentaries up to 60 minutes.

Sheffield Doc/Fest

Sheffield Doc/Fest presents an international programme of over 90 documentaries from the
1200 submissions it receives.
The industry conference at the festival attracts British documentary makers
and executives in British television. The delegate mix of around 900 includes documentary and
factual producers, directors, buyers, commissioners and distributors.
Sheffield Doc/Fest offers a marketplace for producers to secure the deals for the year
through the meetings held with the many broadcasters from the UK and the world attending
the festival.

The Grierson Awards

The Grierson Awards commemorate the pioneering Scottish documentary maker John Grierson (1898 – 1972), famous for Drifters and Night Mail and the man widely regarded as the father of the documentary.
Established in 1972, the Grierson Awards recognise and celebrate documentaries that have made a significant contribution to the genre from Britain and abroad.
In 2007 The Grierson Trust, along with Sheffield Doc/Fest, introduced three new awards – the Green, Innovation and Youth Jury Awards – to be presented during the Sheffield documentary festival.
