The 6th annual Israeli Environmental Film Festival will be held at the Jerusalem Cinematheque May 20th-23rd 2009.
This year the festival will grant the “Green Jerusalem Award” for environmental documentary films. In addition, the festival holds competitions for short films along with a special children's category. Non competitive screenings will also be held as part of the festival.
EcoCinema invites submissions in all genres that critically examine the concept of environment and challenge current human/nature relations and fit with EcoCinema's mission and objectives.

EcoCinema began its activity in 2004 with the first Environmental Film Festival in Israel. Now entering its 6th year, EcoCinema has screened over 120 films for over 25,000 people in five different cinematheques around the country making it the main gateway for international environmental films to Israel. Today EcoCinema is registered as a non-profit organization that aims to raise awareness, through artistic and cultural means, of the environmental issues facing Israel and the world.
EcoCinema attracts world renowned directors of environmental films to the festival, holding sessions and workshops for a wide audience. The festival events include ecological fairs and street theater and activities for children.


Mission & Objectives:
1. Raising environmental awareness through the use of cinema and visual media in
order to bring on a cultural-environmental change.
2. Promoting and encouraging the production of environmental films.
Special consideration will be paid to:
- Films that will have their WORLD or ISRAELI PREMIERE at Ecocinema 2009
- Films which deal with environmental issues most relevant to the Middle East

Final deadline of submission: January 20th 2009 (latest postage date)
Acceptance or rejection letter will be sent by the end of February.
